North Hills was originally an agricultural community known as 'Mission Acres'. After World War II, the newly developed suburban community was renamed 'Sepulveda' until the latter 1990s when it was named 'North Hills'. Today North Hills is comprised of two unique sub-neighborhoods, North Hills West and North Hills East, whose neighborhood councils work closely together to improve the overall quality of life in North Hills communities. North Hills is home to the Veterans Administration Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center campus, which serves veterans in the San Fernando Valley.
